Post by g***@vt.eduHi - I have an old 486 running DOS with an internal zip drive, but I
can't get it to recognize the drive. I have run guest.exe and it
assigns the drive letter D: to the zip drive, but when I try to access
it says invalid drive. I think I need to edit my config.sys file. Any
suggestions?
This is what the manual says for the ATAPI zip drive.
DOS Users (Windows not installed):
1. Insert the 100MB Tools disk that came with your system into the
Zip drive.
2. Insert the Windows/DOS “Install” diskette into the computer’s
floppy drive.
3. At the DOS prompt, type a:guest if the Install diskette is in drive
a: (or b:guest if it is in drive b:).
4. Press Enter and note the drive letter Guest assigns to your Zip drive.
5. At the DOS prompt type: d:\dosstuff\install (use the Zip drive
letter in place of d:), then press Enter.
6. After the software intallation is complete, reboot the computer.
Saving Files to the Tools Disk: If you attempt to save files to the
Zip “tools” disk and find that the disk is write-protected, go to the
DOS prompt and type d:\dosstuff\reclaim (use the Zip drive letter in
place of d:), then press Enter.
If you need Help, refer to the electronic manual (MANUAL.EXE)
located on the Install diskette.
If you have the SCSI internal 100 then here is the installation
guide in pdf format:
