The printer daisied on works fine, so why doesn't my 486 recognise the
Zip100 (smaller AC adaptor, has Zip100 printed on it) when same laptop
worked on a different prl Zip (100 but then Zip was only 100)..???

If you didn't change *anything* else except the drive the most likely
possibilites are dead zip drive or dead power supply. The only ways to
be certain are to try the drive on another system and also swap the
power supply with a known, working one. Just because the printer works
does not necessarily mean that the drive interface is functional.

It's possible, but here's more detail

I have the printer daisied out of the zip100
I have two parallel a-b switches sharing this between three computers
I'm pretty sure the drive worked on the 233MHz Win98 machine
but I will check to see if the adapter is correctly attached.
I am trying to use the drive on a 25MHz DOS6 laptop
and later on an 8MHz MS-DOS-3-Generic (using a terminal).
I have no idea if the 8MHz will work, but it would
be convenient.

Nope, checked, Zip is on. Just that 486's Guest 3.0 won't see it
ev'tho it lets print thru.. and this settup works when I turn the
switch to the 233MHz PC.

Guest 6.0 worked.. Guest 3.0 didn't (on the 486)..

It is so slow to find the drive, tho..

I am wondering if it will work on my 18yr-old 186..
