SCSI Jaz drive and Spinrite boot disk

After having one of my Iomega Jaz cartridges go south on me and lost
some very criticle data I acquired Steve Gibson's Spinrite and am
trying to get the boot diskette it creates to see my SCSI Iomega Jaz
drive. The SCSI controller is an Adaptec 2940 PCI and the system is
running WinXP Pro

With the default boot diskette spinrite doesn't see the disk at all.
When I create a generic boot disk and load the aspi dos driver
(aspi8dos.sys) spinrite will only recognize the Jaz unit if the
cartridges are formatted as FAT. I usually have them as FAT32

Any ideas on how I can get spinrite to see a FAT32 formatted
cartridge?

Regards......

I don't think I can help with your problem but lets see if I can guess
what the SpinRite peeps say from thier Tech Assist email url. Something
to the effect "Spinrite cannot reliably detect any drives if the
correct information from your computer BIOS is not updating SpinRite
correctly". They go on to suggest you should try the Jaz unit in
another computer or with a differant bus.
Am I close or what??
Hey Steve, you need another tech support guy or what??

Read the last paragraph of this section at my website:
