Hi How can I get spinrite 6.0 to see my SCSI zip disk. I have an Adaptec
2940UW controller
I tried adding to configsys aspi8dos.sys aspi8u2.sys aspicd.sys
and I still don't see the drive when the dos boot disk loads
Thanks

I also have a 2490UW. It uses aspi8dos.sys - not aspi8u2.sys. Also,
aspicd.sys is for a CD drive - not for a Zip drive. aspidisk.sys may
work if you want to use the Adaptec software.

You can find some information on getting the Zip drive working in DOS
here: http://pw2.netcom.com/~deepone/zipjaz/dos.html

I've never used spinrite, but I think it is designed for hard drives,
so you may need to configure the Zip drive as a hard drive in order to
use spinrite with it. If that's the case, then you'll need to set the
2940UW BIOS to control the Zip drive (set 'Include in BIOS Scan' to
"yes" for the Zip's SCSI ID) instead of loading drivers, and you'll
need to have a Zip disk in the drive when you boot the computer.

If you can use the drive in DOS then SR6 will see it.

Download from iomega the DOS utilities for ZIP drives (about 1 meg).
Install it from a regular DOS prompt and note what changed in config.sys and
autoexec.bat and then maybe make a boot diskette with just those commands to
load your zip, boot from it and run SR6 from there too. I think that would
be easiest.

SR6 will run on the ZIP drive if DOS can see it, regardless if it is
configured as removeable or fixed disk..
