i have broke the iomega usb 16x10x40
can i substitute the internal cdrw with other....
if possible can i insert a dvd rw .... there is problem ???

Physically substituting the drive from one to another is not a real problem.
The computer should be able to see the change. Does not matter if the
drive is a CD or DVD.

The problem area may be with the burning application. It might need to
be updated to function with the new drive.
