my ide zip 250 detects as a atapi floppy 1.44mb

I have tried different computers, promise cards, master slave, primary
secondary.

I havent tried smashing it with a hammer yet but........

Make sure the drive isn't jumpered for one of the Drive A: settings
(assuming the 250 has those).

In the system BIOS setup, make sure the Zip drive's location is set to
"NONE" or "Not Installed". If there is a Zip-specific setting, that
might also be worth a try. The default "Auto" setting often doesn't
work properly.

Secondary master is usually the best place to put a Zip drive.

On some older PCs, depending on BIOS, this is expected behaviour, and the Zip
functions normally, albiet as B: drive.

I've installed a few like this in the past, but not for a while.

If it happens on a new PC then I'd suspect the drive, otherwise it's OK!
