Hello all
I want to back up a hard disk partition to CD. As commonly happens, the hard
disk is larger than the CD, so several CD's will be required.

Question: How can I make a sequence of CD,s which back up an entire hard
disk?

(I want to be able to restore my entire OS, programs and data in the event
something goes wrong when I repartition the hard disk.)

The hardware involved is an Iomega Predator CD burner, and a hard disk of
2Gig.

The software is Iomega HotBurn running under Windows 98.

My experience with CD burners is very limited, so assistance will be greatly
appreciated.

I have used Norton Ghost 2001 to create an image of my
hard drive (spanned over 16 CD-R's), and it works well
as an archive, or to clone a hard drive.

I've also used it to backup a small Win 98 laptop's
hard drive (800MB) to Zip 100 disks via a parallel port
Zip drive. It is a more lengthy process,
but worked fine. I then burned the Zip disk files
to a single CD-R for portability, using
the CD-RW drive of a second Zip drive equipped
machine.

The problem (or advantage) of Norton Ghost 2001
is that it is a DOS program. The Ghost CD-R burner
program will be on the same bootable floppy disk
as the Norton Ghost program. Ghost 2001 came as one
part of "Norton Systemworks 2001 Professional".

Note for you DOS nerds: a Norton Ghost boot disk
will boot your machine to IBM PC DOS 7.1

You can buy the Norton Systemworks 2001 Pro disk
(which includes the manual on pdf file) for only $9 at:
