Hi all,
I have a USB 250 Zip Drive and am currently running Win98SE. My problem is
that I have password protected a disk and now when I put the disk in I don't
get the password request screen to come up. When I try to access the disk
directly through my standard link to the drive I get the message that the
media is improperly inserted or not there.

Any ideas as to what the problem is and what I can do to fix it?

Unfortunately I did not back up the disk because I didn't think this issue
would arise.

Thanks in advance,

Eric

You should be able to access the password window by right-clicking on
the drive's icon in My Computer or Explorer and selecting the Protect
(or Unprotect) option on the pop-up menu.

In order to have it come up automatically (not a good idea, IMO), you
might need to have Iomega's Active Disk installed. Older versions of
Iomega's software used something called Iomega Watch for that purpose,
but I think they discontinued that years ago.

I have the same problem. There is no Protect option on the right-click
menu. I am using XP, and I thought the problem was to do with that.
Obviously it isn't.
I just tried installing IomegaWare (ioware-w32-x86-402.exe) on my
other computer with XP Professional (with SP1), and I do have the
Protect option on the right-click menu. Also, I am automatically
prompted for the password when inserting a protected disk (I expect
this is because Active Disk is running).
If you're using an older version of IomegaWare, you should try 4.02
(it's the latest). If it still won't work, then maybe something else
you have installed is interfering with it. Or perhaps your Iomega
drive has some sort of configuration problem.
Thanks for the input. I did end up having to go through the My Computer
drive link and access it through the properties configuration.

You were correct I was and am expecting a window to popup automatically,
just as it did in the past when I was running a 850Mhz processor before my
upgrade, and ask for a password.

I did go to Iomega and downloaded the 8+MB file and reinstalled Iomegawear
402 before I posted the original message to the group. That was why I was
and am concerned that something may be going wrong with my disk, it had no
problems accessing any of my other disks.

If anyone figures it out, please let me know.

Thanks,

Eric
