Can I boot from my Zip drive?
Answer

Iomega® Zip® drives are meant to provide additional storage for your
computer. While it may be possible to boot some operating systems from
an Iomega Zip drive, many operating systems take too much space on a
Zip drive to make it feasible as a boot device.

Note: Iomega cannot offer assistance in configuring Zip disks
as boot disks. If you want to boot from an Iomega Zip disk, we
recommend that you contact the operating system developer for assitance.

Use the following as a guide if you wish to use a Zip drive as a boot
drive:

* If you are using a Zip SCSI drive, the adapter you are using
must have an enabled BIOS ROM to be able to boot from the drive. For
information on how to enable SCSI BIOS ROM, contact the manufacturer
of your SCSI adapter card.

* You cannot boot from a USB Zip drive unless your BIOS supports
booting. For information on your BIOS, please contact your computer
manufacturer.

* For Windows or DOS operating systems, the drive must be
configured as the C: drive. This usually means you must have no hard
drive on the system.

* Some operating systems cannot boot from any removable drive.

* You can boot Mac operating systems from a Zip disk if the
operating system will fit within the capacity of the disk you are
using. For more information about booting on a Macintosh computer
please contact Apple.
