When I put the disk in Iomega, a window appears that says "no disks put
the disk in". What can it be?
My 100MZ zip drive is in parallel port.
When I insert the dish a green light (as usual) lights, there are no noises.
I have installed no Iomega software.
The drive was OK till two weeks ago (before I went on holidays).
I have windows 2000 operating system.
Sorry for my english, I'm italian.
Thanks Bruna C.

Hello,

If you can borrow another, known good disk to try in your Zip drive,
that will be a good test.

If the other disk is not recognized, then your Iomega drive is bad.

One failure mode is the light emmitting diode that reflects off
the area in the bottom corner of the Zip disk. If that diode fails,
the disk will be ejected as you say.

Another failure mode is mechanical damage to the read/write head
which tries to read the magnetic information on the disk.
If that fails, it may also cause damage to the surface of your disk,
and data loss. It may also cause damage to the borrowed test disk.
I don't think this is your problem, because the Iomega usually clicks
a lot, due to repeated attempts to read the disk using the bad head.

Regards,
Ed

Hi,

Further to my previous note,
you should also borrow another, known good, Iomega power supply
to try. If your power supply has gotten weak, it may also
cause the symptom you described.

Iomega's power supply is somewhat unusual, 5V DC at 1A.
This is a higher current requirement than most other brands of
power supplies can provide.

Regards,
Ed
