So .. how do I permanently get rid of the zip icon on my desktop.

It's a shortcut. If I delete it, it comes back the next time I boot.

I have XP with and old parallel 100, and recently installed new zip
software.

Thanks,

Not all that familiar with XP, but from what I have read on other news
groups you need to disable the auto-restore function in XP (not sure where
you would locate that), delete the icon and then restart your computer,
after verifying that the icon is gone after the reboot you can then enable
the auto-restore function, when you reboot again it shouldn't come back.

You could probably do a search of your help file to locate the auto-restore
function to get step by step instructions for temporarily disabling it.

Good Luck

Try to disable soemthing called IMGICON in startup. It may be in your starup
folder, or in msconfig/startup

To permanently get rid of that drive icon you have to go into your
folder and click on the icon "Remove Drive Shortcuts". At least that's
how you do it with Zip 250.
