Hi all, A friend has an IOMEGA zip drive, no hard drive he wanted me
to send him some stuff but I did not have a Zip drive so bought an
IOMEGA 100 mb zip drive off of EBAY cheap. I hooked it up. The PC
recognizes the drive but when I put the 100mb disk in the drive and try
to download to it I get the following: "please insert disk" when I open
it on the control panel I can see that it is not reading any disk...any
ideas? doing something wrong? or did I get sent a bad machine?

Thanks, Phil

You left a lot out. For openers:

What operating system are you using?

What model 100MB Zip drive - internal, external, SCSI, USB, IDE, ATAPI,
parallel port??? Or maybe even the rare ZipPlus? Check the serial number
plate to locate the model number.

If it's an IDE or ATAPI drive what else is connected on the same cable?

If it's an internal drive or a SCSI drive did you check the docs at the
Iomega web site to see if the jumpers are set correctly?

Any lights on? Either when you power up the drive or try to write to a
disk?

Is it making any noise at all? Any clicking noises?

Does it eject disks ok?

Did you install any Iomega software for the drive?
