My newer computer has a scssi card but it has a wider
connector than the one needed for my Jazz drives.
What kind of a replacement card do I need to shop for,
so that I can connect my Jazz drives?
Is there a better option?

Yes. The alternative to replacing the SCSI card is to look for an
adapter. Is it an external JAZ drive? Then the adapter needed would
be a 50-pin HD to 68-pin HD. As for a SCSI card, probably the best
around is still an Adaptec with a 50-pin HD header.

"Wider" does not necessarily mean a 68-pin HD header. It could also
mean one of the older Centronics SCSI headers or a 25-pin SCSI-1 header
although with a "newer" computer, the predisposition is towards the
former.

Well the card is older. It has the designations AHA 2940W/AHA2940UW
and ASSY 917396-28 etched/printed on the board, and aAHA 2940W/ Dell4
sticker on the big chip.

Really good SCSI card and well worth its weight in gold today. It is for
"wide" SCSI and takes the 68-pin HD (high-density) connector at the card.
Need a suitable adapter that takes the cable from the JAZ drive to the
SCSI card. Probably need a 50-pin HD to 68-pin HD adapter or a 50-pin
to 68-pin SCSI cable. Look around.

www.computercablesource.com/scsi-adapter.aspx recommended by DeepOne
has a 68 HD Male to 50 HD Female converter (SCSA 3840T) for $32.25 .
That's what I'm going to order. ADAPTEC offers an AHA-2940U card which
seems to be what I'd need otherwise. Their price $295.00 !!

You should be able to find an adapter here:
