I'm in the process of building a semi-new computer system utilizing my
present computer's motherboard, processor and RAM, but buying a new case and
drives. I just received in the mail today from an eBay auction a 250Mb
internal Zip drive with a black face that was pulled from another computer.
The problem is, it's more of a very dark gray than black, and doesn't match
my other black components. Did Iomega ever make a truly black bezel for the
250Mb Zip Drive? This is my first time seeing a black Zip drive up close.

Yeah, it looks like ebay sellers who know their stuff clearly label
those "carbonite" instead of "black". Some ebay sellers don't even
label their items with a color. Actually a lot of people have slight
color blindness in low light situations. Sometimes I think things are
green when they are blue and vice versa, and sometimes I see black
when some shirt is very dark blue. (^: I looked at www.iomega.com
but they don't seem to sell faceplates of different colors. But I
would call them to make sure they don't use some other term besides
"faceplate". Heck they might even have a lot of faceplates sitting
around and might send you one for free + shipping if you get a nice
sales person on the phone. (I got free parts for my rolling suitcase
that way) (^: Their number is 888-516-8467 (Mon - Fri., 8 am to 8 pm
Eastern) If that doesn't work, then call around to local computer
repair shops and see if they have any faceplates that are black and
you could trade for it ! I have done that with memory and hard drives
of similar sizes before. If that fails, then the last option is to
take all the front covers off the computer and take them outside and
spray paint them glossy black from about 2 feet away and let them dry
in the cool shade so they dry slowly. Then you have added that extra
custum touch to your system. *smile*

good luck !
